Elegant pen, bargain price

Purchased this pen for my Italy journal. Surprised by the quality for the price. Does not skip if you know how to use a fountain pen. You need to write in cursive with constant pressure which you will learn to do if you haven't used a fountain pen previously. Writes as well as pens costing $100.00 more. Good looking, good size writes very well. Excellent for use as a journal pen.

Good Pen for a Beginner

I will admit, this was my first fountain pen and I've never used a different one so I really have nothing to compare this pen to. I love this pen because it was comfortable to hold and it has a professinal look. The pen will occasionally skip but mostly just when it's running low on ink. Good pen if you are looking to get started and collecting pens or if you just want a nice looking pen. Bad pen if you want a high quality pen.

I purchased this pen from Staples and was impressed with it's quality for the price. It's manufactured by Cross for Franklin Covey; this is the first Cross fountain pen I've gotten. Some reviews here say the pen skips. This is likely because before you use any new fountain pen, you need to wash the nib in warm water with a mild detergent to flush the manufacturing oils/residue out of the nib or yes, it will skip. If you do this, the pen probably won't skip. It's a smooth writer, one I can use for hours as an editor. It uses international ink cartridges, which can be difficult to find, but you can always buy bottled ink from a local office supply store and use a syringe (available at any animal feed store) to fill your old cartridges. Different inks perform differently with different paper, so please don't blame the pen if you don't like how the ink flows on a particular paper. I bought a black one, and it looks elegant--far more expensive than it is. All in all, I think it's a great starter pen and a solid writer for everyday use. The low price and easy availability means I won't be upset if I lose or damage the pen. I want another for personal use.

I bought it for myself since my last Jumbo started to leak. It is an exceptional pen for what I paid for it.

Leaks bad

I received this pen as a birthday gift from my wife. It was fine the first day or so, but it has begun leaking and I can not use a pen that covers my fingers in ink every time I use it. My $2.00 Bic fountain pen doesn't leak, why should accept that from this one?

Nice value for a starter pen. With lighter writing pressure the pen skips. One refill was included with the pen. It was easy to install and prep for use. The cap will stay on the back of the pen if you press it down a little. Having a bit of trouble with the clip. It's just too tight against the pen to use.

While the look and feel is good, it skips after almost each cm of writing. Disappointed that this works only with a cartridge, maybe that is the reason for skipping.

I use the pen for everyday tasks. I just wish the ink cartidge was bigger. I'm going to have to order ink soon.
